Minimum UK Wage

Historically the minimum UK wage rates have increased each year since its introduction. The rates are reviewed annually and new rates are introduced usually in October.

There are several minimum wage levels and the amount workers receive depends on the age of the person. An employee who is working legally in the UK and signed a contract or been given a verbal agreement is usually entitled to the minimum UK wage.

If you sign a contract or agree a lower amount the contract will have no legal effect. If you are entitled to the minimum wage your employer must pay you at least the minimum UK wage rate even if you agree to accept a lower rate.
